Early morning, two men load a truck that vibrates as it drives, right at the border of a town that is very silent. One man is methodical, calculating both weight and steps; the other is more impulsive, relying on momentum and a bit of luck. They move chairs, tables, pieces of furniture, and figures from the past, as well as stories that no one speaks of, from one home to another. Their vehicle becomes a confessional, and its metal shell reverberates with the sound of their laughter, their sorrow, and their thoughts that at last never led anywhere. As the distance accumulates beneath the shoes of the men, they ponder what it signifies to start a new chapter whilst not completely abandoning the old one. Every stopping point presents a new idea: strength is in unity, time is saved by being patient, and dignity is upheld through honest work. Changing weather conditions lead to anger, and after a wrong turn, a longer route has to be taken, and there they finally open up to each other. By the time the sun goes down, the truck has lost some of its weight, but the day has brought with it a kind of weight that is quite different. Two men get out, exhausted and a bit different, having realized that moving forward isn’t about how fast you go but rather being in tune with each other. When the engine is no longer warm, they look at each other in the twilight, not knowing what the next day will bring but being sure that they have carried something precious between them and have today learned patience, trust, humility, purpose, and endurance. https://2menandvan.com.au/
